March 2020 Newsletter

Things certainly took an unexpected turn for the Mason community, and the world due to the coronavirus/COVID-19 outbreak. We are currently living in an unprecedented time and as we brace the uncertainties, GAPSA would like to continue to extend our support to the graduate student community at Mason.
Here are the latest updates, news, and announcements for March 2020. An important announcement to also check out the FAQs developed by the Office of Graduate Education especially for graduate students.

Mason Graduate Interdisciplinary Conference - CANCELLED

In response to the University's decision to cancel all campus events through May 18 due to the coronavirus/COVID-19 outbreak, the Mason Graduate Interdisciplinary Conference will, unfortunately, be cancelled for this year. The conference will be back next year, and we would like to thank the presenters and volunteers, as well as the rest of the Mason community for supporting this event.

GAPSA Executive Board - Call for Applicants

It's that time of the year again where we invite interested applicants to apply for GAPSA's Executive Board positions. The Executive Board is comprised of the President, Vice Presidents for Fairfax, Arlington, and SciTech campuses and a Director of Communications. To be eligible to run, you need to be a registered graduate student at Mason for Fall 2020.
This is an excellent opportunity to apply and grow your communication and leadership skills, collaborate and work with various departments across the university, meet wonderful colleagues, and build your resume while serving the larger graduate and professional students community at Mason.

Graduate Assembly

March 26, 2020, WebEx meeting (Virtual )
Every month, GAPSA hosts the Graduate Assembly where representatives from various graduate departments gather to discuss issues, concerns, and solutions relating to graduate students at Mason. This month's meeting will be held via WebEx in compliance with the University's event cancellation policy. The assembly is a by-invitation-only as representatives are nominated by their respective departments. If you have any concerns, suggestions, or opinions that you would like to raise at the assembly, we would like to hear from you.
Send us an email at gapsa@gmu.edu and we will connect you to your department's representative.
