MAG ENDORSING U.S. REP. TOM PRICE, M.D., HHS NOMINATION
ATLANTA – The Medical Association of Georgia (MAG) is endorsing the nomination of U.S. Rep. Tom Price, M.D., to become the secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
“Congressman Price has earned his reputation as a strong and credible advocate for American patients and physicians,” says MAG President Steven M. Walsh, M.D. “MAG shares his core tenets, which include the need to preserve physician autonomy, defending the patient-physician relationship, and empowering individual patients.”
Dr. Walsh adds that, “Dr. Price has a proven track record, he has always been open-minded and accessible, and he has a clear vision for the future.”
Dr. Walsh also stresses that, “Dr. Price understands that there is a critical need to reduce the administrative burden that has been placed on today’s physician – so they can focus on patient care – and he knows that we need to reduce the amount of control the federal government and big health insurance companies have on our health care system.”
Dr. Walsh concludes that, “I can’t think of a better, more qualified candidate to lead HHS and protect and preserve America’s patient-centered health care system than Dr. Tom Price.”
In addition to being a long-time MAG member, Dr. Price is a member of Georgia’s delegation to the American Medical Association. The orthopedic surgeon cared for his patients in Georgia for more than 20 years.
With more than 7,800 members, MAG is the leading voice for physicians in Georgia. MAG is an advocate for physicians in every practice setting and specialty. MAG’s membership has increased for six years in a row. Go to www.mag.org for additional information.
