Gwinnett Commission Approves $5.2M Tax Incentive for Tesla Service Center

The Gwinnett Board of Commissioners recently approved tax allocation district (TAD) financing for the Tesla Duluth project. Located near Gwinnett Place Mall, the site was home to Haverty’s Furniture Outlet Clearance Center. With an anticipated investment of over $35 million into this site, Tesla Duluth, a best-in-class regional Tesla service center and dealership, will involve the total remodeling of the current 50,000-square-foot site and the construction of a 598-space parking deck. The project promises to be a key piece of the visionary Gwinnett Place Mall area redevelopment efforts and become a catalytic element to spark future investment in the Gwinnett Place area. This redevelopment promises to bring employment opportunities with livable wages to Gwinnett residents and increase public revenues to Gwinnett through increased property taxes, sales taxes, and auto title taxes. Additionally, the investment in this property will benefit surrounding properties through “halo effect” impacts.
Joe Allen, Gwinnett Place CID's Executive Director, represents Gwinnett’s CIDs on the Gwinnett County Redevelopment Agency Board of Directors which also approved the project’s TAD financing application.
