Dear Friend,
Like you, we are watching with concern as COVID-19 continues to spread throughout the world. For many of us, the future has never felt so unpredictable. That's why I wanted to personally reach out and let you know that your wellbeing is important to us. We want to support you as best as we can.

As we adapt to these unprecedented circumstances, Worksafe continues to advocate for a world where everyone can access work that is safe, healthy, and fair. Now more than ever, California workers need us – and we’re doing everything we can to support them. Here’s how we’re responding to the pandemic
:
  • We are answering questions from workers and advocates about the workplace impacts of the pandemic. What is my employer required to do to protect me? Can I refuse work if they do not? How is Cal/OSHA responding? What do the governor's executive orders mean for my workplace?

  • We are coordinating statewide calls among health and safety advocates and union lawyers to inform, strategize, and share best practices.

  • We are preparing for Workers Memorial Day, coming up on April 28, which feels especially weighted this year in light of the many losses from COVID-19 that are happening all around us every day.
Times like this remind us of how interconnected we all are – we truly are in this together. Please reach out to let us know how you're doing, or if you just want to chat. You can also tell us about actions you're taking in your workplace, or reach out with your vision of a post-pandemic world. We’d love to hear from you.

Thank you for being part of the movement for worker health and safety. With you at our side, we can do more for California’s workers.

Stay safe and well,

Stephen Knight
Executive Director
