Professor David Bresnahan |
Ask me about... "how to study and write about the history of a place and time period without any written records that describe that place and period.."
|
I think the most important role I play at the U is... "serving on committees...just kidding. The answer is definitely teaching. There aren't a lot of opportunities for students to take Africa-related courses anywhere else in the university, so I definitely value that I can offer students windows into past worlds that they otherwise might not learn about.

In both my world history and African history classes I really try to emphasize the world we occupy today and the ways we think about social or political relationships in it are in no way normative, when considered within in the scope and scale of human history. More recently I've also been developing some of my classes as online courses which I like because it makes them accessible to the widest range of students possible."
