For FWSF, January marks the month in which the previous board hands the reigns over to a new board. It’s also the month in which committees begin soliciting new members.
Joining a committee is a great way to network and refine or improve your skill set by taking on new roles. And it’s often the first step toward joining the board. Here’s outgoing president Denise Rigli’s overview of each committee’s accomplishments in 2023.
Fundraising – With the turmoil in the markets, we knew it was going to be a challenging year for Fundraising. Thanks to a lot of creativity and hard work, we were able to raise $200,000 across individual donors and corporate sponsors.
Scholarships – The fundraising efforts of 2023 and prior years enabled us to award scholarships totaling $140,000 to 11 recipients. The competition for scholarships continues to increase and we are thrilled to have helped support so many future leaders in finance.
Membership – Our focus in 2023 was on “belonging,” and the Membership team was dedicated to member engagement. We added 31 members in 2023, in part due to this committee’s hard work.
Programs – The programs team came roaring back into the new way of work with successful in-person and virtual events. The team organized industry-focused events and partnered with many of our corporate sponsors to present relevant topics. They also continued to offer our monthly meditation, coffee connection, bring your own lunch and book club series events.
DEI&B – The DEI&B team continuously sought to raise awareness internally to FWSF to ensure an inclusive environment and a feeling of belonging. The team also provided external thought leadership through two DEI&B events.
Marketing Communications – During the year, the MarComm team led a project to clean up and reorganize the website. The team also continued to move us forward in social media, introducing analytics that will help us to refine our strategy.
