“Hello Laguna Honda residents and families and friends of Laguna Honda residents -- I’m Grant Colfax, Director of Health.
And I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for your ongoing contributions to our fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and your support of the entire Laguna Honda community.
I know these are unprecedented times and you have made sacrifices.
This includes with regard to the quarantine order at Laguna Honda, which prohibits visitors on the facility.
I hope you are finding other ways to connect and visit, including through phone and video visits. But I also know it is not the same.
If you are feeling the effects of isolation, please tell your Laguna Honda provider. Help is available.
Our Health Officer, Dr. Tomás Aragón is currently reviewing the quarantine order to see if it can be modified such that some form of visiting could be resumed in a way that is safer and reduces the likelihood of COVID-19 transmission.
What we have achieved at Laguna Honda to-date, what you have achieved to-date, is truly remarkable.
Yes, we have had cases of COVID-19 at Laguna Honda and certainly each case we take very, very seriously, but so far we have managed to slow the spread of COVID-19.
This is remarkable, it is extraordinary. And again, it is due to your efforts.
And we have seen, unfortunately, what can happen if the virus spreads rapidly in places similar to Laguna Honda.
So, we must remain vigilant. We must remain vigilant because there is more virus circulating in the community than ever before.
So please, continue to wear those masks, continue to socially distance, continue to use those good hygiene practices.
Every day, you are truly saving lives. You are saving lives at Laguna Honda and throughout the community. And I thank you.”
