Latinx Heritage Month Featured Artist: Poncho Sanchez
The Loyola Law School Jazz Salons present good music! The good tunes will flow next Tuesday, Sept. 20 when we present the first Jazz Salon of the fall 2022 semester.
The Jazz Salon will feature the music of Poncho Sanchez, the premier conguero of his generation. His recordings feature a unique blend of Latin Jazz, salsa music, and strains of straight-ahead jazz. When Poncho's music plays, you might want to get up and dance to the infectious sounds!
We will hear cuts from the more than 20 recordings Poncho Sanchez has made as a leader, including four for which he received Grammy nominations. In addition, there will be a discussion of Poncho's life and how his music evolved during his career.
