Fordham Law School’s Center on Race, Law and Justice presents
Hip-Hop and the Law
Wednesday, October 18, 2023
4:00 – 6:00 p.m. | program

Via Zoom Webinar
About the Program
From Jay-Z rapping about overzealous cops in “99 Problems” to Kendrick Lamar rapping about black survival in the face of injustice in “Alright”—hip hop artists, sometimes called the “black CNN”—have both reported on the struggle for equality, and suggested how law and policy need to change.  And some legal scholars have taken note. This panel features several of those scholars—all contributors to Fight the Power: Law and Policy Through Hip-Hop Songs—who will show that hip-hop has a lot to say about the law, and that more of us should listen.
