DANDELION HONEY PASTRY CHEF CHALLENGE
Before there was high-fructose corn syrup, there was honey. This Thursday, local talents will be celebrating nature's sweetener with a fun challenge sure to be very tasty. At Nicollet Island Pavilion, local pastry chefs will be using dandelion honey to make delicious treats that will be judged by local celebs, including Dara Maskowitz-Grumdahl and Ann Bancroft, with moderators former Mayor R.T. Rybak and Megan O'Hara. Bee-loving pastry participants include folks from Spoonriver, Lucia's, Restaurant Alma, Birchwood, Gigi's Café, Seward Co-op Bakery, and others. Revelers will be invited to vote as well, as samples of all entries will be available to try. Guests will also enjoy snacks, a cash bar, and live music. The event is put on by Beez Kneez, whose Healthy Bees, Healthy Lives initiative seeks to protect bees from pesticides and other environmental issues through legislation.
