August is National Diversity Awareness Month, a time to encourage dialogue that fosters an appreciation of our differences and similarities. Let us continue to strive to gain a deeper understanding of each other to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Women's Equality Day
August 26 marks the adoption of the Nineteenth Amendment, which prohibits states and the federal government from preventing women from voting. Women gained the right to vote in 1920. The first official Women's Equality Day was celebrated in 1972.

August 6 is the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord. Pope Benedict XVI described the Transfiguration as revealing 'the splendor of Truth and Love.' In the Transfiguration, we are invited to meditate on the 'mystery of God's light,' Jesus's divinity, and our role as children of the light.

August 15 is the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which commemorates the bodily taking up of the Virgin Mary into heaven at the end of her earthly life, a belief and observance shared by the Catholic and Orthodox Churches.

Join DOVE Monday, August 18, 2025, 9 AM for a day of giving back and building hope at Mother Teresa House in St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish in Montclair, NJ. They are a safe haven for asylum-seeking families, providing a temporary home, compassionate care, and vital connections to local resources. DOVE needs your help to give it the loving refresh it deserves! The project will include deep cleaning, cabinet repair, disposal of old furniture, and more.

Bring: Cleaning supplies (if you have them), work gloves, and a heart ready to serve! Your helping hands will make a meaningful difference for families seeking safety, dignity, and a new beginning.
