Lunch and Learn: Dharma and Ecological Justice
Thursday, March 19, Noon, Brooks Commons, Cannon Chapel
This event will explore the intersections of Dharmic faith traditions, the living environment, and the law. Drawing on Hindu, Jain, and Buddhist concepts of nondualism, nonviolence, and the living world, the event will bring them into conversation with legal perspectives on interest convergence, rights, and personhood. Featuring scholars of both religion and law, both visiting and from Emory, the event will highlight the distinct ethical frameworks within each tradition and apply them to the contemporary discourses on environmental justice, animal welfare, and sustainability.

- Gifts to the Center for Religious Life (Interfaith Center) support the ongoing programming of the Emory Interfaith Center, which includes dialogue events, special holiday celebrations, and more.
- Gifts to the Journeys of Reconciliation Endowment Fund support an interfaith travel program for students, faculty, and staff to learn about peace and social justice issues in the world.
- Gifts to the Inter-Religious Council support weekly gatherings of 25 representatives of undergraduate Atlanta-campus spiritual organizations for dialogue and building interfaith leadership.

Looking for a Lenten practice? Come by Cannon Chapel on Wednesdays between noon-1:00 pm for a labyrinth walk. No experience with labyrinths is necessary. If you’re unfamiliar with this practice, Rev. Maddie will be present to offer guidance and have suggestions for how to walk the labyrinth. Take this opportunity to have a meditative moment during this holy season.

Ramadan Weeknight Iftars
The Muslim month of Ramadan will span February 18 through March 18, 2026. During this time, Emory Muslim students, faculty, and staff will be observing with daily fasting from dawn through the sunlight hours and nightly iftar communal prayers and dinner. On Atlanta campus, Emory University Muslim Life will hold weeknight Ramadan Iftars in Cannon Chapel with fast-breaking, call to prayer, prayers, and a halal buffet dinner (except for spring break).
Emory Muslim students, faculty, and staff do not need to register, but guests should register by emailing Emory Muslim Chaplain Ustadh Dr. Rahimjon Abdugafurov. Tam Institute Tenenbaum Lecture 2026: "The Road to 1492: Jews, Christians, and the Spread of Mass Expulsion in Medieval Europe"

Safety Net is a training tool that was created by MFNN in partnership with Search for Common Ground and the Polarization & Extremism Research & Innovation Lab at American University to help put resources in the hands of congregational and civic leaders that help communities push back against polarization, extreme rhetoric, violence, and more. Eagle Food Pantry and Donations
The Eagle Food Pantry is a free food pantry for Emory University Students housed at Bread Coffeehouse. We are open Fridays from 9 am-5 pm during the semester and can be found at 1227 Clifton Rd. Students can visit the pantry as many times as needed and there is no food limit.
Donations can be made through our Amazon wishlist, our website, or dropped off at Bread Monday-Thursday 12-5 pm. Our most desired items are pasta, pasta sauce, oatmeal packets, peanut butter, jelly, granola bars, fruit cups, canned beans, canned veggies, and canned soup. Emory University Chaplaincy: Chaplain Office Hours in AMUC 125 Monday-Friday during Term, Noon-2 p.m., AMUC 125
Emory University Chaplaincy chaplains are available Monday through Friday from approximately Noon-2 p.m. during term in AMUC Suite 125 to offer pastoral care and have meetings with students, faculty, and staff. The general schedule is below and may vary semester to semester.

Ramadan Wed., Feb. 18 – Wed., Mar. 18, 2026 Tradition: Islam The holy month of Ramadan is a month of fasting, reflection, and charity during which Muslims who are physically able do not eat or drink from dawn until sunset in honor of the revelation of the Qur'an to the Prophet Muhammad. The evening meal called an iftar is celebrated with family and friends.
Lent
In Christianity, Lent is the holy season leading up to Easter. In the churches that follow the Gregorian calendar, Lent is a six-week observance (40 days excluding Sundays) beginning with Ash Wednesday and culminating in Holy Week and Easter. In Orthodox churches, it is a 10-week season leading up to Holy Week and Pascha. It is a time of reflection, repentance and charity in preparation.
Nineteen Day Fast Mon., Mar. 2 – Fri., Mar. 20, 2026 Tradition: Baha'i A designated 19-day period of fasting each year immediately before the Bahá’í New Year (Nowruz). The fasting is seen as a period of spiritual preparation and regeneration for the new year ahead.
Laylat al-Qadr Sun., Mar. 15, 2026 Tradition: Islam The Night of Power or Destiny commemorates the first revelation of the Qur’an (the Islamic scriptures) to Prophet Muhammad in 610 C.E.
Eid al-Fitr ('Id al-Fitr) Thu., Mar. 19 – Fri., Mar. 21, 2026 Tradition: Islam One of the two main Islamic festivals (with Eid al-Adha), this feast celebrates the end of Ramadan, the month of fasting. It comes on the first day of the next lunar month, Shawal.
