Dear Friends,
2026 is shaping up to be a year of both significant challenges in our industry and exciting momentum at LA Family Housing. Earlier this month, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved the County’s Homeless Response System Budget which reduces funding for homeless services supported by Measure A, the voter-approved 2024 sales tax increase intended to address homelessness countywide. While the cuts are not as deep as the County initially projected, they are significant — and they will have an impact on homeless services across L.A. County, including those provided by LAFH.
We anticipate that LAFH funding levels will be reduced for the next fiscal year, beginning in July 2026. However, we won't know the impact until we receive program-specific contract notices from the County, which are expected in March. In the meantime, LAFH continues to advocate alongside our partners for life-saving programs and the critical funding needed to reduce homelessness across Los Angeles and bring more people home.
There have also been reasons to celebrate, as you’ll see in the newsletter below — including the opening of another permanent supportive housing community for individuals experiencing chronic homelessness, inspiring stories shared by LAFH staff for Black History Month, and the Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count. I hope you’ll read on to learn more about this critical work and impact.
We are grateful for your support. No matter the challenges, together we can help more families access the housing, support, and services they need to end homelessness in their lives for good.
With Gratitude,
|

Earlier this month, LA Family Housing and LAFH Builds officially welcomed more than 100 individuals home at The Cielo, a brand-new four-story modular development in the Chatsworth neighborhood of Los Angeles. The Cielo provides 99 units of permanent supportive housing for our most vulnerable neighbors, marking another meaningful step forward in our mission to build pathways out of homelessness and into stability.

Celebrating Black History Month |
Black history is not only something we honor from the past - it’s something we witness, experience, and learn from every single day. This year, the LAFH Black History Month theme, “The Black Present: Here and Now,” highlights Black excellence, leadership, and influence in the work we do and in the communities we serve across the homeless services landscape. All month, we are celebrating Black creativity, leadership, resilience, and joy in our workplaces, neighborhoods, and beyond.

2026 Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count |
We kicked off the year with a successful Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count! LA Family Housing served as the lead agency for the Upper North Hollywood count, and we couldn’t have done it without our dedicated volunteers who came out to help. We are so grateful to our community for helping collect this crucial data so resources can reach people where they’re needed most.

Your donation helps our neighbors start this next chapter with dignity, comfort, and care. To make it easy, we’ve moved these items to the top of our In-Kind Essential Needs Wish List.
