Virtual Events

Webinar with College Leadership
Thursday, Dec. 14
2 p.m., Mountain Time
All parents and families are invited to join a webinar with Colorado College leadership to learn more about the ways we are supporting our students and prioritizing the safety and well-being of our entire campus community.

Register for the webinar in advance using this link. Once registered, you will receive a Zoom link and instructions for how to join.
If you have specific questions that you would like college leadership to address, please submit your questions in advance by Wednesday, Dec. 13, at 10 a.m., Mountain Time using this online form.
As part of this discussion, we will share more about our Community Standards and Freedom of Expression policies, and how these inform the ways we prevent and respond to all forms of hatred and bigotry. We will also share staffing updates, information about the reporting process and upcoming bias workshops, and other educational and support resources we have in place for students.
As a multifaith, multicultural institution, our collective and peaceful perseverance through profound division is imperative. We appreciate the care and concern you continue to demonstrate for your students, and we look forward to this opportunity for connection.

Extended Break Shuttles and Housing

Airport Shuttles
Have a student flying out of Denver International Airport or the Colorado Springs Airport for Winter Break? Students may book a free one-way shuttle ticket—these shuttles are sponsored by CCSGA, and space is limited. Students should sign up in person at the Worner Desk. There are no return trip shuttles, and students will need to make their own arrangements to return to campus. From DIA, many students use Groome Shuttle. (They can book online or call 719-687-3456 and indicate they are CC students in order to be dropped off on campus.) Students flying into COS can use a ride share app or local taxi service.
Winter Break (Shuttles depart from Worner Center)
Wednesday, Dec. 20
Shuttle to COS departs at 1 p.m.
Shuttle to DIA departs at 1:30 p.m.
Thursday, Dec. 21
Shuttle to DIA departs at 7 a.m.
Shuttle to COS departs at 7:30 a.m.

Extended Break Housing
CC's Residence Halls are officially closed starting Thursday, Dec. 21, at noon. They will reopen for students at 8 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 7 (Half Block) and Sunday, Jan. 21 (Block 5).
Students with a need to remain on campus for any portion of Winter Break, including any students enrolled in Half Block, must submit the Break Stay Form.
As a reminder, for all break periods, there may be a reduced level of services on campus. Front desk and dining hours are subject to change and will be shared with students when available.

Career Center: How to Maximize Winter Break

Help your student maximize their Winter Break!

While winter break is a chance for students to relax and rejuvenate, it's also an ideal time for personal reflection, advice gathering, securing summer opportunities such as internships, and preparing for life beyond CC. Please encourage your student to join Career Center staff next Wednesday, Dec. 13, 1-2 p.m. (MT) for a workshop about strategies for making the most of their break with bite-sized tasks and activities. Students can RSVP on Handshake, available to them through CC's single sign-on page.

Additionally, here are a few suggested conversation starters you can use to help your student feel supported during the break:
  • What academic subjects have excited you the most this year?
  • What activities have you enjoyed outside of class?
  • What are a few ways I can help you as you think about future plans?
Please also encourage your student to read the Career Center email newsletters (delivered to student inboxes on Wednesday mornings) to discover more workshops, professional development opportunities, and highlights of the many internships and jobs posted on our Handshake platform! Want to learn more about the resources available to your students through the Career Center? Sign up for the upcoming CC in the Spotlight event for parents featured above.

Ditch the Dumpster is Back

Is your student planning to graduate, study abroad, or move out this winter for any other reason? Or maybe they just want to simplify, donate some clothes, or make space in their room for all the amazing gifts they'll receive this holiday season? Ask them to think twice before throwing items away!
Ditch the Dumpster is back this semester, led by the Office of Sustainability in partnership with Residential Experience. It provides an easy way for students to donate their gently used items instead of throwing them away, and encourages sustainable practices of reducing waste. The program runs from Dec. 15-19 at two on-campus collection sites, accessible 24/7: Loomis Lounge and Hybl Community Center.
Students with questions can visit the Ditch the Dumpster webpage or email sustainability@coloradocollege.edu with any questions.
