RIC's Beehive Sport & Social Club teams! |
Resident Interdisciplinary Council (RIC) is sponsoring spring social sports leagues. Kickball, soccer, and softball teams are underway. Sadly, pickleball was in such high demand we were not able to get the teams this season. Hopefully we will be able to add it for the summer season. Stay tuned!
|
|
The RIC has partnered with Beehive Sport & Social Club to bring trainees together at no cost to them to play the community sports leagues. Starting in the winter of 2022-2023 with a dodgeball team, the RIC has sponsored teams every season since including kickball, pickleball, soccer, softball, volleyball, flag football, futsal, and basketball. |
Thank you to Anita Albanese, Family Medicine PGY-3 and member of the RIC, for managing the seasonal sports leagues! Thank you also to Julius Hain, Internal Medicine PGY-1, for stepping in to fill Anita’s shoes once she graduates! |

Seeking New RIC President |
The Resident Interdisciplinary Council (RIC) is seeking a new president! This trainee-led advocacy group has been led by Kristen Durbin, Triple Board PGY-5, for the past 3 years. As Kristen graduates, the RIC is looking for someone to continue their strong work advocating for the continuous improvement of the training experience for all Utah GME trainees. Kristen and the RIC leadership team have worked diligently to strengthen trainee financial benefits (including implementation of an employer retirement contribution for all trainees beginning AY 2024-25), implement trainee-facing policy improvements, and connect trainees with wellness programming (including the fall welcome picnic and the subsidized seasonal Beehive sports leagues).
The RIC President serves as a member of the Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC) and GMEC Executive Sub-Committee, using their voice to advocate for trainees in other leadership committees and conversations at the U.
Program Directors and Program Managers/Coordinators: If you know of a trainee who would make a great RIC president and has the interest to do so, please encourage them to reach out to Kristen.Durbin@hsc.utah.edu or Amy.Armstrong@hsc.utah.ed with a letter of interest by Friday, April 19th! Current members of the RIC leadership team will vote on the new RIC President.
