New in 2026: A New Tax Benefit for Giving Back |
|
|
As you prepare your 2025 taxes, it’s not too early to start planning ahead for 2026. Beginning with donations made in 2026, donors who take the standard deduction may deduct some charitable contributions, even without itemizing.
Under new federal tax rules, individuals can deduct up to $1,000, or $2,000 for married couples filing jointly, for eligible cash donations made by check, credit card, or online to qualified charities like Habitat for Humanity.
While the greatest reward is helping families build a better future, this change may also save you a few dollars at tax time. Consider including Habitat for Humanity Clinton County in your 2026 giving plans and help build strength, stability, and self‑reliance through shelter.
*We encourage you to consult your tax advisor for guidance specific to your circumstances.
