Class of 2021 -
  • An email was sent to you December 28 with LOTS of very important information!  Please be sure to let me know if you did not receive it.  
  • One more reminder that every TBS is required to take the SAT or ACT as part of their graduation requirements. Only half the class has registered for an SAT date, so if you have not done so yet, REGISTER TODAY! 
Class of 2022 -
  • I would encourage you to take the SAT or ACT this spring as well.  Not only can you retake it later if needed, but you can check it off your list for your senior year. Find out more about your test options on our website
  • Get in the habit of reading these newsletters as well as checking out our scholarship page on the TBS website (see more information below).  Get a jump start on your after high schools plans NOW!  The sooner your start, the easier it will be. 
Class of 2023 & 2024 - 
  • It's never too soon to start thinking about your future.  Want to start exploring career options?  Debating between college, a gap year, or starting a career after high school?  Feel free to come by my office and learn more about how we can start planning NOW for after high school.

Did you know?

TBS has an entire webpage dedicated to college scholarships and financial aid!  There are so many more scholarships available than those highlighted below.  Check the website often for updates and new opportunities.  
Private scholarships are one tool to help make college or training after high school more affordable. Students and families in Washington can access theWashBoard.org to create a profile and be matched with potential scholarship opportunities. The WashBoard site is spam-free and will never sell your information.
Highlighted Scholarships & Financial Aid:
Ewing C. Kelly Scholarship - The Ewing C. Kelly Scholarship is designed to reward students who demonstrate good citizenship while striving to attain their academic goals. Applicants will be judged on their academic merit, extracurricular achievements--both scholastically and in their community--and financial need.  Each award is worth $2,500 and winners will be notified in April.

College Board Opportunity Scholarships (CLASS OF 2022) - The College Board Opportunity Scholarships are now open for class of 2022 students. The program lays out six simple steps that all students can take to get to college. Learn more how you can qualify for this scholarship on the College Board website.
Seattle Foundation’s Scholarships - SFS has officially launched their scholarships cycle for the 2020-21 academic year. They are offering more than 50 scholarship programs with $1.5 million in funding available.  Most applications have a deadline of March 1, 2021. TwinStar Credit Union Scholarship - Are you a member of TwinStar Credit Union?  See Mrs. Reinmuth for an application for a $2,000 scholarship! Application deadline is March 31, 2021.

Guide to the SAR (Student Aid Report)

Discover Loans puts out a great Guide to Your Student Aid Report to help families learn more about their SAR.  The SAR is a report you receive after filing your FAFSA and gives a breakdown of what you reported. 

JUNIORS - Hamilton Scholars & Coolidge Scholars

Alexander Hamilton Scholars recognizes young people for their academic, personal, service
and entrepreneurial accomplishments. Up to thirty-five (35) students from across the nation are selected annually as winners of the Hamilton Award and subsequently enrolled in the five-year Alexander Hamilton Scholars (AHS) Empowerment Program. Learn more at hamiltonscholars.org. Application deadline: January 27, 2021.
The Coolidge Scholarship is an annually awarded, full-ride, presidential scholarship that covers a student’s tuition, room, board, and expenses for four years of undergraduate study. The Coolidge may be used by recipients at any accredited college or university in the United States. Anyone of any background, pursuing any academic discipline of study, may apply to this non-partisan, need-blind, program. Students apply for the Coolidge Scholarship during their junior year of high school. Learn more at coolidgescholars.org. Application deadline: February 24, 2021.  

National Youth Science Camp

The NYSC experience is hosted and operated by the National Youth Science Foundation (www.nysf.com) and is offered at no cost to participants, so that selected delegates may attend regardless of their financial status. Educational and recreational programming is provided free of charge. To learn more, visit the NYSCamp website. Deadline to apply is February 28, 2021.

M.A.S.H Camp (formerly know as NurseCamp)

The application period for the 18th Annual MultiCare Nurse Camp, now known as MultiCare Academy for Students in Healthcare (M.A.S.H.), will open January 11th, 2021, and close March 12th, 2021. Next summer’s M.A.S.H. Camp 2021 will be held July 19th – 23rd. Learn more on their website.
