Staff Council Professional Development Conference: Register by May 13
Staff Council invites you to its annual Professional Development Conference on May 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Both in-person and virtual attendance options are available.The in-person conference will take place in Bloch Executive Hall (BEH).
The conference offers 12 sessions, optional networking opportunities, and free professional headshots. The conference will also feature keynote speaker Caitlin Carducci, General Manager of the KC Current

Staff Council Hosts Campus Donation Drive at May 20 Professional Development Conference
Staff Council will host a campus donation drive at the May 20 Professional Development Conference to benefit the Academic Support and Mentoring (ASM) Academic Supply Pantry, the Dr. Raj Bala Agrawal Care Center, and the Professional Wardrobe Studio.
All staff can contribute donations, regardless of conference attendance. Bring donations to the Bloch Executive Hall (BEH) first floor throughout the day on May 20.
The following items are needed:
  • ASM Academic Supply Pantry: Notebooks, note cards, pens, pencils, sticky notes, and highlighters.
  • Care Center: Canned meat (e.g., chicken, tuna), canned fruit, boxed meals (e.g., Hamburger Helper, Pasta Roni), canned soup, breakfast items, granola bar, Ramen noodles, dry pasta, and peanut butter.
  • Professional Wardrobe Studio: Women's expressive blazers (all sizes) and ties.
If you cannot bring donations on the day of the conference, contact Laura Moore and Destiny Delgado Peterson to arrange an alternative drop-off time.

Staff Appreciation Week takes place May 19–23. Staff Council will recognize the hard work and dedication of UMKC staff with a week of special events and activities. UMKC staff are invited to attend a variety of events, including:

Global Accessibility Awareness Day Logo
Celebrate Global Accessibility Awareness Day on May 15
May 15 is Global Accessibility Awareness Day, a day dedicated to encouraging conversations, learning and action around digital access and inclusion for more than one billion people with disabilities and impairments. To mark the occasion, Missouri Online will host events focused on digital accessibility. Click here to learn more and register. Other Helpful Staff Resources and Upcoming Events
  • Programs Relocating During Atterbury Student Success Center Renovations. Starting May 19, the following programs will relocate to the fourth floor of Miller Nichols Library: First Gen Roo, KC Scholars, Bloch Scholars, SI, Tutoring, Writing Studio, PAL Program, MoCA, Undergraduate Research, Career Services, Professional Career Escalators and University College. The School of Graduate Studies will move to the first floor of Miller Nichols Library. International Student Affairs Office (ISAO) will relocate to the School of Education building. Scheduled campus visits under Admissions will move to the Student Union, and the Admissions Office will relocate to Administrative Center 120.
  • Hospital Hill Run May 31 Course monitors needed. Volunteers will guide runners along the race route. Group registration or questions: Contact Jayden Hicks at jayden@uncoverkc.org. Sign up.
  • All Campus Recruitment Training Aug. 5–6. Join the Office of Admissions to learn about the recruitment cycle and how your office can get involved. Open to all UMKC staff. Register today.
  • Academic Support Incentive Scholarship. UMKC students who attend 8+ academic support sessions (SI, Tutoring, Writing Studio) can apply for a $1,500 scholarship. Four scholarships are awarded annually. Must be in good standing, enrolled, and submit an application with a short essay. Learn more.

Final 2024–25 UMKC Staff Council Meeting June 4, 8:30 a.m.
Staff Council meetings are open to all. Meetings are typically held the first Wednesday of each month, 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., both in person and via Zoom.
The final 2024–25 meeting is scheduled for June 4 in Bloch Heritage Hall (BHH) Room 006 and via Zoom
