2024 NJ Ballot Bowl Competition
|
As we approach the U.S. Presidential Election on November 5, Seton Hall is dedicated to fostering a safe, welcoming and inclusive campus environment. There is no better way to achieve our goals for the nation than participating in the democratic process through voting.

Veterans Day honors members of the military who have nobly served in America’s armed forces. Seton Hall has long been an institution with a remarkable military tradition. That legacy continues today through the ROTC and our designation as a Yellow Ribbon school, among a host of service-related initiatives and support programs.

- Veterans Day Mass (November 11, Chapel of the Immaculate Conception at 8:00 a.m.) This reflective service will offer prayers for veterans and their families, recognizing the immense sacrifices made by those in the military.

Veterans Day Celebration Ceremony (November 11, University Green Flagpole at 10:30 a m.) Seton Hall honors our military student veterans and members of the veteran community on Veterans Day.

Jazz n’ the Hall Concert Series (November 12, SOPAC) The United States Military Veterans All-Stars will present a lively program of popular jazz favorites and patriotic songs in an honorable tribute to veterans of all wars. Tickets are $5 in advance of the performance, or free the evening of the concert. Reservations may be placed through the SOPAC Box Office or (973) 313-2787.

This event features Eastern European literature and cultural insights, supported by the DEI Committee.

Clinics are co-sponsored with Walgreens Pharmacy and are open to all students, faculty, and employees. Individuals will be able to sign up for a specific appointment time closer to clinic dates. If interested, schedule an appointment here.

Stop by the Campus Inclusion & Community Center (University Center, 209) on Halloween Day (October 31) between 1 to 3 p.m. to pick up candy, treats, and raffle prizes. Our Commuter Study Hall on November 11 from 12 to 5 p.m. offers light snacks, comfy chairs and charging stations for your tech.

The Department of Catholic Studies and the University Core Curriculum invite you to celebrate the life and legacy of Servant of God, Dorothy Day.

The University community is invited to commemorate Kristallnacht, or the Night of Broken Glass, hosted by the Sister Rose Thering Fund. The commemoration will include a short program with speakers, music and reflection on event many consider the first atrocity of the Holocaust.

The talk will consider the various "cultural" challenges instructors and students face in the classroom. These can include misread cues, language differences, and different approaches to engagement.

Nadia Murad, 2018 Nobel Peace Prize laureate and UNODC Goodwill Ambassador, returns to Seton Hall as a guest of the World Leaders Forum. Hosted by the School of Diplomacy and International Relations, the World Leaders Forum provides a space for dialogue where distinguished visitors and students have an opportunity to discuss critical global concerns.

DOVE Toy Drive (November)
The DOVE Toy Drive brings joy to children Christmas morning, supporting our immediate neighbors and reaching as far as the Appalachian region of West Virginia.

Fall Toth-Lonergan Lecture (November 13, Walsh Library, Beck Room A,B,C)
Visiting Toth-Lonergan Professor, Francesca Zaccaron, Ph.D., will offer insights on the importance of happiness within educating the whole person.

‘Nature, Grace, and Secular Culture’ (November 21, Schwartz Hall, Room 112)
Father Christian Irdi will engage John Milbank, Joseph Ratzinger, and their critics in a dialogue on secularization and its pastoral impact on the universal church today.

Women, Health Care and Catholic Traditions (November 21, University Center Event Lounge)
Women involved in the Catholic Intellectual Traditions have enhanced faith and compassion, and challenged the meaning of peace, hope and charity.

November is National Diabetes Month, a time when communities across the country seek to bring attention to diabetes. The theme for National Diabetes Month in 2024 is "Take Charge of Tomorrow: Preventing Diabetes Health Problems".

- October 31 - Diwali (Hindu) is a five-day "festival of lights" that celebrates the triumph of light over dark and good over evil, and the blessings of victory, freedom, and enlightenment.
- November 1-2- Dia de Muertos is a two-day holiday that reunites the living and dead. Families create ofrendas (Offerings) to honor their departed family members that have passed.
- November 20- Transgender Day of Remembrance
- November 25- Day of the Covenant (Baha’i)
- November 26- The Ascension of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá (Baha’i)
