Complete Coverage

When it comes to complete coverage, we rely on these 5 guidelines
“We’re here to help” is not merely a tagline—we mean it! The Equinox team exists to solve problems and serve people. One way we serve is by providing timely, relevant support and training services year round. Another important way we serve is by making sure our customers have complete coverage. In sports, there are different types of offensive and defensive coverage, all working together for the goal of winning the game. That’s a pretty good analogy for our approach to .....read more.

Shane Lombardi is a huge fan of Equinox and an avid Protector user. He’s also passionate about his daughter’s volleyball career—he never misses a game and loves being part of that volleyball family. He’s pictured here with his daughter Hannah.
The first ‘Customer Spotlight’ of 2021 shines on Shane Lombardi. If you aren’t acquainted with this long-time Protector user and veteran user group attendee, here’s your chance to get to know him! Shane began his telecom career in 1998. In 2012, he officially became a member of the Protector family when he joined a company that had the system in place. He’s since moved to another company where he was directly involved in implementing and deploying Protector from day one. Shane has a rather unique claim among the Protector community—he’s used the system at four different companies. He points out each installation was configured quite differently, so he’s got experience leveraging virtually every benefit Protector has to offer.

As a Fraud Analyst II Team Lead, Protector is the most significant part of Shane’s workday. It’s his company’s primary international fraud detection and analysis tool. First thing each day, Shane reviews overnight activity, including violations, cases, and patterns. Then he runs queries and analyzes trends for the last 24/48 hours. Of course, he uses Protector throughout the day to respond to violations. Shane explains that being proactive is the name of their game! He queries suspect destinations to stay ahead and relies on Protector’s quick violation reporting to react when necessary. Shane says, “Protector’s ability to do what we want is amazing. The flexible rules let us fine tune conditions based on what we see in real time. That is my favorite feature. We want to work smarter instead of harder, and Protector lets us do just that!

Starting in 2014, Shane became a regular fixture at the Protector User Group Meeting (PUGM). He describes the event as “the most important 2 to 3 days of my work year. PUGM is by far the most valuable learning experience Equinox provides. The networking and social aspects of the conference are great, but the educational component is immeasurably valuable. Since I am the primary admin at my company, the ‘What’s New’ and ‘WISH LIST’ sessions are so beneficial.” He looks forward to the next PUGM and is hopeful it can be held face-to-face.

Shane paints a very favorable picture of his experience with Equinox Support: “I’m a big fan of Equinox. Their people are all super and make it easy to do business with the company. Support gets answers to me quickly—even after hours. Their responsiveness, especially Mitch who knows the ins and outs of our unique setup, is a huge help. In fact, the support they provide with the application is priceless!

Originally hailing from Denver, CO, Shane now calls Canandaigua, NY, home. Outside work, his passion is cheering on daughter Hannah’s club volleyball team. She’s been on the same team for the past 4 years, and it’s like one big family. They head out Friday after work and spend all weekend in convention centers playing in tournaments. COVID has affected the sport for sure, so they are so excited about their first regional tournament coming up in 2021. In the warmer months, Shane enjoys golfing and spending time on the boat with his family.

We appreciate the opportunity to have worked with Shane for so many years and value his input and participation at the user group. Shane had many nice things to say about Protector and Equinox. Well, the feeling is mutual!
