SCIENCE PLAYWRITING COMPETITION – STAGED READINGS
The Simons Center for Geometry and Physics and the C.N. Yang Institute for Theoretical Physics are pleased to present the 2026 Science Playwriting Competition: Staged Readings of the Winning Plays. Directed by Steve Marsh, staged readings will take place on Wednesday, April 15 at 5:30 pm at the Simons Center for Geometry & Physics Della Pietra Auditorium, Room 103. EARTHSTOCK - A CELEBRATION OF EARTH DAY
Activities for this annual tradition run from Monday, April 20 through Saturday, April 25 - with representation from campus departments, student organizations, local businesses, nonprofits and community partners committed to sustainability and environmental engagement! This year's highlights include a keynote presentation on April 20 at 5 pm in the Stony Brook Union Ballroom, featuring Dr. Patricia Wright, Distinguished Service Professor and Founder and Director of the Centre ValBio Research Station in Madagascar.
WATER FEST 2026
This important 'water awareness event' brings together artistic creation, environmental inquiry, media experimentation and community engagement. The Community Actions component creates a public-facing platform for students, faculty and campus organizations to present creative, academic research-based, or performative responses to water as an ecological, cultural and social force. GOLF LEAGUE DEPARTMENTAL CHALLENGE
Lunchtime Info Session | Wednesday, April 22 at noon (Zoom) | Join us for a fun, flexible SBU department competition - outside the office! We’ve secured a league opportunity at Spy Ring Golf Club (Centereach, Route 347), and we’re inviting departments to form teams and compete throughout the season. Gather a foursome (or even two!) and play once a week at a time that works for you - just book your tee time 24 hours in advance. Join our lunchtime Zoom session to hear directly from the Spy Ring Pro, who will cover league format, costs and rules. There’s no obligation to join - just come learn more and share your input!
