March 21, 2017 | A weekly publication of the National Speech & Debate Association
Dear Coach,
Happy Arts Advocacy Day! Read up on how we're advocating for speech and debate in Washington, D.C., ways to recognize members of your community, a session preview from our upcoming inaugural education conference, and new resources this week.
WHAT'S HAPPENING
Action on Arts Advocacy Day » In light of recent news that funding for the National Endowment for the Arts is in danger, we're proud to represent you as teachers and learners of the art of speech and debate during Arts Advocacy Day in Washington, D.C., this week. Today, we are on Capitol Hill meeting with congressional leaders about the importance of the arts. Here's what you can do to help:
  • Send a customizable message to your representatives, urging them to oppose any attempt to eliminate or cut funding to the NEA.
  • Share your support for the NEA on social media using #SaveTheNEA
Thank you for being members of the NSDA. Your membership dollars, along with donations, provide the essential resources to engage in national advocacy like this, National Speech and Debate Education Day, and so much more. You make it possible for more students to be exposed to the arts each year.
