Outerspace anchors

NASA recently invited a team of mechanical engineering students and alumni to Johnson Space Center to test their Basic Rock Anchoring Device (BRAD), which can attach to a variety of rock textures and ice under microgravity conditions. It was the first time a TU team had been invited to this stage of NASA’s Micro-g NExT program, and BRAD made its inventors proud by clamping on and holding tight. 

Getting the jobs done!

This summer, TU students fanned out across the country on meaningful internships. They included a biology major who worked with Missouri’s attorney general, a budding chemical engineer who focused on the manufacture of isolate soy protein products and a women’s and gender studies + psychology rising junior who played a major role in the revamp of Domestic Violence Intervention Services’ website. 

TURCish delights

The Tulsa Undergraduate Research Challenge (TURC) enables students to conduct research under the guidance of expert professors. “TURC was one of the main reasons I wanted to come to TU,” said computer science major Julian Abhari. Meet, intersect, collide!

From May 30 to June 4, 2023, The University of Tulsa will host a national festival of literature, music and ideas called Switchyard. This new annual event will feature more than 35 live musical performances, a literary festival and keynote sessions designed to draw some of the world’s most innovative writers, thinkers and artists to the heartland.
