In the new lesson plan collection Start Here: Teaching Extemporaneous Speaking, students will learn to research, outline, and deliver an original speech from memory with limited preparation. These nine lessons take students through the basics of the event using a mix of sample videos, lectures, activities, and practice time.
The collection is included with your NSDA membership! Use them in full or borrow pieces to supplement your instruction.

Tool for Building Your Schedule

|
Our Cultural Observations Calendar is designed to help you consider holidays and observances tied to faith traditions when planning team meetings, practice sessions, and tournaments. Observing these days may affect one’s mental and/or physical activities (e.g., eating and attending special services), creating conditions that might prevent people from participating in team activities or performing at their best.

Learn from National Champions

Learning directly from national champions is a great way for students to think about their events differently or pick up new strategies. Encourage interested students to register to attend our first two Champion Q&A sessions of the year to ask their questions directly, or explore past sessions for their events!

Share Your Feedback with the NFHS
|
The National Federation of High Schools (NFHS) is conducting annual surveys to track educator satisfaction and better understand retention and advocacy needs. Your input helps shape future resources, so please take a few minutes to complete the Speech and Debate Coach Satisfaction Survey and/or the Theatre Educator Satisfaction Survey by October 15. Even if you’ve participated before, your responses are vital for identifying long-term trends.
