March 27 - Overdose Prevention in Lane County
Speaker - Alexander LaVake | Lane County Prevention Coordinator
Lane County Public Health has launched the Fentanyl Aware campaign to address the rise in fentanyl use, 911 calls, ER visits, and deaths. The goal is to save lives through education and risk awareness.
“We’re giving youth, families, and community members the tools to stay safe, respond to overdoses, and reduce risk,” said campaign coordinator Alexander LaVake.

This is a Translated Note from our Club’s Project Amigo Student!
"Hello sponsors, how have you been? I am very pleased to greet you again. The reason for my letter is to thank you from the bottom of my heart for making it possible for the food supplies you have provided to reach my home. Receiving this support means a lot to my family and me. I had the opportunity to participate in the assembly of the food supplies, which was a very pleasant experience, and now having it at home and using it comforts me. I feel very fortunate and grateful. Once again, thank you so much for your support and for always looking out for me.
With much love, Selene"

Special Thanks for Our Volunteers
Thanks to the Springs Club for purchasing supplies and packaging hot cocoa mix for our Spring-break food boxes! The Mission donated the cocoa powder, and the Springs provided the powdered sugar and milk. Special thanks to Gary and Kelly Brown for coordinating!
Thanks to the Emergency Committee and a match from Habitat for Humanity, furniture was purchased for a newly housed Head-Start family. Brian provided the truck, and the Family Services coordinator helped deliver. “You made our house a home,” said the child’s father.

Jose's Baseball Schedule & Fundraiser
|
Let's all just agree, Jose, our Rotary Exchange Student is someone special! He has a "Can Do" attitude that is infectious! Never played baseball? Hey...why not try it? Jose made the JV Team, and is having a blast!
LET'S SUPPORT HIM BY ATTENDING A GAME!
ALSO - Jose is raising funds for an upcoming trip to Disneyland! The trip is scheduled for April 18th, so time is running short! He will be presenting at the April 10th meeting, with some items he wants to raffle off.
However, if you want to donate to his trip, Contact Grace (his current home-stay host).

Tres de Mayo (3rd of May) FUNdraiser is Coming!
Our Southtowne Rotary Fundraising Committee is busily making plans for this year's "Tres de Mayo" scholarship fundraiser. We're holding it on May 3 (rather than on Cinco de Mayo) because May 5 is on a Monday. It will be held this year at the Garden Club on High Street, at a very low cost that will include dinner, drinks, and entertainment.
At this time, we are looking for more items to include in our silent auction. One category of items that are very popular and that fetch a good price are "experiences" such as a stay at a home on the coast or the mountains, a guided expedition such as fishing or nature hikes, a special themed dinner for 4, 6, or 8 guests, or tickets to a sports event or performance. Wine packages/baskets are always nice, as are other themed baskets. Or perhaps you have connections for certificates for a restaurant, massage, or other service.
Contact Randy with your auction ideas!
