Colleagues,

As you all may be aware, we have been undertaking a search to fill the position of Vice Provost for Academic Budget and Planning in Academic Affairs. This important position provides leadership for overseeing the strategic budget management of the units that report to Academic Affairs, roughly 65% of the university's overall budget.  

I am pleased to share today that, after a rigorous search, Amy Mulkerin has been hired to fill this position. Amy is currently Senior Director of International Finance at Mercy Corps, where she has worked since 2002. In this role, she oversaw budgeting, financial reporting, grants management, and donor relations for programs in over 40 countries. With over 19 years of financial management experience, Amy brings a history of robust financial management in a mission-driven context.  

She holds a Masters in International Business Administration from the University of Denver and did her undergraduate degree in Business Economics at Willamette University. Amy will begin her position on February 15, 2021.

I want to thank the members of the search committee listed below who conducted a thorough and robust process that identified such strong candidates for us to consider. I am particularly grateful to Cliff Allen, who chaired the search so effectively. In addition, I am grateful to everyone on campus who participated in the search process. The comments and feedback from those who met the candidates were critical to our assessment.

I want to express my extreme gratitude to Dave Maddox, who so ably served in the role of Interim Vice Provost for the past eighteen months. Dave oversaw the development of the revised Academic Budget Allocation model and worked collaboratively throughout his time at PSU in ways that ensured transparency and primacy for academic priorities. I know that you all will join me in wishing him the very best in the next phase of his career. He has brought strategic insight, financial acumen, and generosity of spirit to his work in ways that benefitted us all. Dave will stay on to assist Amy with the transition, and his last day at PSU will be March 31, 2021.
