Spring Concert to have international flavor

The annual Spring Concert and Art Showcase will have an international flavor this year.

There will be a program at 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 19 in the Douglas E. Bond Gymnasium featuring an Elementary Choral Concert, including scriptures and songs in other languages. There will also be a high school worship arts portion of the event and a multi-language reading of the gospel in 10 languages represented on our campus.

The arts showcase will also be on display on tables in and around the gymnasium, featuring the many different types of art produced by our students throughout the year.

The Multi-Language Learners Club will also have tables set up featuring cultural items shared by SCA families that represent different countries.

This event is free and is something you do not want to miss.

Black, Arbeen and Ray moving on

Calice Black, Jonathan Arbeen and Casey Ray will all be departing SCA this summer.

Calice, who attended Tacoma Baptist Schools from fifth grade on and graduated in 1989, is the Arts Department Chair and also teaches English and Drama. She has worked at SCA for seven years. Calice just wrapped up another wildly successful school play, as the drama department presented Our Town this past weekend, which was her seventh high school performance here. She also produced three middle school plays. Calice is resigning to spend more time with family.

Jonathan has worked at SCA for three years as our American Sign Language teacher. He has impacted countless students' lives and will be missed.

Casey has worked at SCA for two years as an elementary school teacher. She is beloved by her students, families and staff and will be missed.

4-percent off deadline approaching

Do you want your child to attend Sound Christian Academy this fall and do you like discounts?

Well, you better hurry then, because not only are enrollment spots filling up fast, but the 4-percent pay in full discount ends May 31.

BASC offering services for half days

With three half days coming up, Before and After School Care will be open until 6 p.m. each of those days.

Scheduled early releases:

Friday, May 26: Elementary school only
Thursday, June 8: All school
Friday, June 9: All school

Hourly charges will apply and students must bring a packed lunch as the cafeteria will be closed.

Field Day volunteers needed

Elementary Field Day is fast approaching and we need your help to make it a success.

Field Day is Friday, May 26, from 8-11:30 a.m. on campus. There will be tons of fun games for the students, including an obstacle course, parachutes and so much more.

Volunteers are needed from 7:50-11:30 a.m. For more information on how you can help, please contact Ryan Ratliff.

Volunteers will run games and cheer the kids on.

This is a half day for the elementary school.
