Dear Colleagues:
On March 27, 2020, the Board of Trustees approved the Extraordinary Temporary Paid Leave Plan to support Ball State University employees impacted by COVID-19.
Additionally, the federal government recently passed legislation to assist employees during the COVID-19 health emergency, and some Ball State employees may be eligible to participate in these two federal leave programs: Emergency Paid Sick Leave and the Emergency Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) Expansion. The programs are effective April 1, 2020. For most employees, the federal leaves cover some, but not all, of an employee’s full regular base wage.
In order to cover all of an employee’s full base wage, the University will provide an additional supplement to these federal leaves through the end of the designated leave, or employment period, or June 30, 2020, whichever comes first. Employees who are eligible for these programs may utilize these federal leaves in combination with the University’s Extraordinary Temporary Paid Leave Plan to receive their full base wage.
