The holidays at The Coolidge at Sudbury and Covenant House in Brighton were particularly festive, each featuring local entertainment and abundant holiday decor. In Sudbury, a mother-daughter piano and vocalist duo performed traditional Christmas and Hanukkah tunes while residents feasted on an impressive spread of homestyle Italian cooking. At Covenant House, residents danced off their turkey and petit fours to a multi-instrumental, three person band. Santa even made a grand entrance handing out gifts to the entire community.
These festive events are a small but vital part of what makes BBH’s service enriched housing model so successful. The holidays can be a difficult time for seniors. Traveling to see family isn’t always possible because of high costs or health issues. Couple that with icy sidewalks and freezing temperatures and you have a recipe for isolation and loneliness. By building inclusive communities and providing seniors ample opportunities to come together in these cold winter months, we are helping our residents build communities in which they thrive.
