Newsletter for University of Oregon faculty with updates, resources, events
University of Oregon
Dear UO faculty,
We hope winter term is off to a great start for everyone and that you’re staying warm on these frosty winter mornings. It was great to see some of you at the Martin Luther King Jr. Day luncheon, hosted by the Division of Equity and Inclusion, with more than 150 people in attendance.
We’re excited to let you know that the university’s 148th commencement exercises have been scheduled for June 15 and 16, with the main ceremony taking place at 9 a.m. June 16 at Autzen Stadium.
In this edition of the faculty newsletter, you’ll find news of a new web page providing updates on the new presidential administration and its potential impact on research activities; a reminder to claim your ORCiD, a free, unique identifier for your research; a heads-up that applications for the 2025 UO Foundation Trustees Excellence grant close in April; and a celebration of a Graduate Education Excellence award winner.
As always, we are grateful for your work and hope to see you at some of the events highlighted in this newsletter.
Sincerely,
Office of the Provost

Help Students Find Academic Support
Tutoring and coaching available at TAEC
This fall, the Tutoring and Academic Engagement Center had nearly 8,000 visits with students returning an average of three times. After visiting TAEC, one student shared, “I feel better about starting my essay, and it was helpful to have someone guiding me on how I should get started.” Remind your students that TAEC has a wide range of free resources like writing tutoring and peer academic coaching to support their academic success. Services begin week two of each term.
Williams Fund Nominations and Proposals Due Feb. 17
Nominations for Williams Fellowships, major awards for great teachers who also are innovators and collaborators, and proposals for Williams Instructional Grants to fund faculty ideas for undergraduate teaching and curriculum projects are due Feb. 17. The Williams Fund supports excellence and innovation in undergraduate education.
Claim Your ORCiD
Faculty members are encouraged to claim an ORCiD and associate their work to their unique research identifier. This will increase visibility of your scholarship, enhance networking efforts, and jumpstart your Elements profile. Learn more about ORCiD from UO Libraries and read up on how this effort relates to UO’s Elements project

Approvals Needed for Academic Program Revisions
