| A proposed payment-in-lieu-of-taxes agreement with Amazon for a fulfillment center at the site of the former Atlantic City Race Course will bring in more than $2.4 million a year in revenue to Hamilton Township.

The proposed agreement lasts for 29 years and includes a 2.25% yearly increase. Atlantic County will receive 5% yearly from the PILOT payments, township officials said.
"And another step closer," Mayor Carl Pitale said of the project becoming a reality. Township officials said they expect Amazon to have its building permit no later than Sept. 30.
The project was delayed for six months as Amazon changed the layout of the building. The original plan called for a multistory building, but the company is shifting to a more traditional one-story plan.
The million-square-foot building will create 750 full-time jobs and 300 construction jobs. Construction will take place over a 36-month period. No timetable has been given on when construction will start.

Cooper University Health Care is among the first health systems in the United States to adopt the next-generation SEISMIQ Intravascular Lithotripsy System, an advanced intravascular lithotripsy technology that uses acoustic pressure waves to break up calcifications in the peripheral arteries and enhance vessel preparation prior to endovascular intervention.

Dr. Philip Batista, a vascular surgeon and division head of vascular surgery at Cooper, recently performed Cooper’s first case with the SEISMIQ system, treating a patient with complex peripheral arterial disease.
The SEISMIQ system is designed to help physicians more easily guide catheters through blood vessels, treat blocked or hardened areas with greater precision, and maintain better control during complex vascular procedures. For patients, this may translate into safer, more precise procedures with improved outcomes and expanded access to minimally invasive treatment options.
“Technologies like SEISMIQ are helping us treat patients with hard-to-reach or hardened blood vessels in a less invasive way,” said Batista, who also serves as associate professor of surgery at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University.

| The Camden County Historical Society is preparing for the American Revolution Museum of Southern New Jersey's grand opening within the restored Benjamin Cooper Tavern on Erie Street in Camden.

Tavern Talks, an event that runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 28, will give attendees a chance to debate ideas from the American Revolution era alongside reenactors portraying colonists, pacifists, and British Loyalists, according to Sharon Mickle, who said she is a Camden County Historical Society Board member.
Although Tavern Talks organizers said the event is not a lecture and members of the public do not need extensive knowledge of American History prior to attending, Zed Morris, interim executive director of the Camden County Historical Society, said in an interview that the American Revolution Museum of Southern New Jersey will provide some of South Jersey’s most important backstories.
“It's one place where you can learn all about the importance of how the eight counties of South Jersey, from Burlington, Ocean County, and Camden, and Gloucester County, and Atlantic County, and Salem, and Cumberland, and Cape May County all contributed to the success of the Americans winning their war for independence,” Morris said. “It gives the individual an introduction to the people, the places, and the events that contributed to us winning the war, especially during 1777 and 1778 with the British occupying Philadelphia.”

| It’s not even July 4th yet, but signs of the Halloween season are already appearing across South Jersey as Spirit Halloween begins preparing several seasonal store locations.
|
|
|
|
While Spirit Halloween typically doesn’t announce its full lineup of stores until late July, evidence of activity has already surfaced in Deptford, Cherry Hill, and Mount Laurel.
Additionally, the Spirit Halloween careers website is currently listing South Jersey seasonal job opportunities in Cinnaminson, Delran, Mays Landing, Millville, Rio Grande, Sicklerville, Washington Township, and the company’s home base of Egg Harbor Township, suggesting more locations will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
Most South Jersey residents are already familiar with Spirit Halloween, but for those who aren’t, the retailer is a division of Spencer Gifts, which is headquartered in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey. Spirit Halloween is a seasonal retailer specializing in Halloween costumes, makeup, decorations, props, and increasingly elaborate animatronic displays.

Amid concerns of growing regional competition, Atlantic City’s casino operators turned in the best single month total gross revenue for the month of May in recent history. While internet gaming revenue continues to grow — achieving a new all-time single month record — this month also set a new near-term record for May gross brick-and-mortar revenue.
|
|
| |
|
While total brick-and-mortar revenue was ultimately up, the stories of slots revenue and table games revenue were quite different. Slots revenue saw significant year-over-year gain, while table games revenue (which can be relatively variable compared to slots) was down for the month. It’s too soon to say for certain, but the decline in table games revenue may be an indication of competition from Resorts World New York, which launched table gaming operations on April 28. This situation merits further monitoring to determine how much of an impact there is and whether it will be lasting — or if it is a function of the novelty of the new offerings at Resorts World — or simply the natural variability of the industry.
May 2026 was an interesting month for Atlantic City. Not only did it include an extra Saturday (as did May 2025), but it also included the second annual Soar & Shore airshow presented by Visit Atlantic City (the first event occurred in July 2025). This also may have had an impact on gaming revenues for the industry as the resort enters the start of the busier summer tourism season.
