UNT’s priority deadline to complete the 2025-26 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is Saturday, March 1. Students must reapply for financial aid every year, so if you haven’t completed your FAFSA yet this year, now is the time.    BLACK HISTORY MONTH   
In the United States, Black History Month is observed every February to commemorate the achievements and contributions of African Americans. This year’s theme, “African Americans and Labor,” highlights the diverse and significant ways in which labor – whether voluntary or involuntary, skilled or unskilled – has been at the core of the Black American experience. Check out some events happening on campus and in Denton:

   ORDER REGALIA ONLINE   
For those crossing the stage this spring, it’s time to order your regalia! Doctoral candidates must place custom regalia orders by March 13 and rental orders by March 21.
Bachelor’s and master’s degree candidates have until March 31 to purchase regalia online. Or, you can buy regalia in person at the UNT Barnes & Noble bookstore from March 17 through April 18.
Review regalia prices and see what your tassel color or hood trim will be.

   EAGLE ALERT PRE-TEST   
A UNT Eagle Alert system test is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 31. The system notifies the UNT community about ongoing emergency situations and university closings by sending text and voice messages by phone and displaying a full-screen alert on campus computers and presentation screens.
Check your contact information and update it if needed on the profile tab of my.unt.edu to ensure you receive the test messages and future alerts.

Join the Student Government Association and the Career Center for My Life After UNT. The weeklong series of events starts Monday, Feb. 10, and is designed to help you prepare for life beyond graduation.
From career readiness tips to networking opportunities, this week is all about setting you up for success. If you plan to attend the Feb. 13 dinner, RSVP by 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5. This free dinner offers an opportunity to connect with peers in your career field, alumni and UNT Career Coaches.

   SUGGEST AN ARTIST   
Help shape the next season of the Mary Jo & V. Lane Rawlins Fine Arts Series! This committee brings an exciting variety of performers to campus and is now accepting artist suggestions for its 2025-26 season.
Past performers have included Michelle Zauner of Japanese Breakfast, Yves Tumor, Nathan Fielder and Spike Lee. Review the selection criteria and submit your proposal by Saturday, Feb. 1.

   UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP   
The UNT Undergraduate Research Fellowship offers a chance for students of all majors to conduct guided research in their field of study with a faculty mentor. URF recipients then individually present their research on Scholars Day in April 2026, earning a $500 scholarship afterward.
The deadline to apply for a 2025-26 URF placement is Thursday, April 17. Visit the URF website for more information about application, eligibility and fellowship requirements.
