Museum Re-Opening TimelineIn this ever-changing world of phasing, we are still hopeful that we'll be able to open this summer, but it looks like it won't be until August. Once Klickitat County enters Phase 3, we will be permitted to open. In the meantime, we have a couple of virtual programs planned and we hope you'll join us!

Zoom Book Event with Steve Wiegand

Join us for an online talk with Steve Wiegand, author of the new book The Dancer, The Dreamers and the Queen of Romania, which tells the story of Maryhill’s improbable beginnings and its intersection with some of the quirkiest personalities of the 20th century.
Steve will talk about how he found Maryhill, fell under its spell, and subsequently came to write this book. He also will read excerpts and answer your questions in real time.

| Exquisitely Connected Project: Online Masterclass

Join us for a free, online guided experience with artist Molly Johnson, who will lead you through the process of creating a submission for the Exquisitely Connected Project. Molly will help take you through the steps of creating a visual response to your current feelings, your hopes for the future, or creating a metaphor for today’s world experience. All you need are a few basic art supplies and your creativity!
Our goal is to connect creatives of all ages and abilities – virtually and literally – as each finished 8" x 8" artwork becomes a part of a larger whole.
The workshop is FREE; advance registration required.

Collections Corner: Gifts of the Dress Family
These woven and beaded women’s hats are the work of historic Hupa, Karuk, Shasta, Modoc, and Klamath makers. They date to the beginning of the 20th century and are generally 4”–5” in diameter. When the museum opens, the hats will be on view in the reconfigured California cases that are part of the museum's Indigenous Peoples of North America Gallery.

Online Exhibitions
Did you know we have two virtual exhibitions available on our website? Teachers as Artists: Women of Influence, is a partnership with the Washington Arts Education Association and features arts educators from throughout the state. The exhibition was scheduled to be on view at the Tacoma Art Museum this summer; instead it will remain linked and on view through our website.
The Influence of Women is a partnership with Aristides Atelier and features realist painters studying at the atelier. Both exhibitions invited artists to explore how women have influenced their work. We hosted a virtual opening reception with the artists last month; they discussed their work and answered questions. If you missed it, click here to watch a replay.
