Changes Made to FUM 2026 Triennial
|
With heavy hearts, Friends United Meeting has canceled the in-person Triennial, scheduled to be held next summer in Indiana. Friends from around the world have been applying for their U.S. visitor visas well in advance, but those visas have been consistently denied. In the absence of our Friends from around the world, our body is incomplete. FUM and Western Yearly Meeting (the local hosts for the 2026 Triennial) are working and praying to determine what form an online Triennial might take in 2026.

Monthly Meeting Discernment Requested on
Ongoing War in Palestine
|
The BYM Palestinian-Israeli Just Peace Working Group (PIPJ) urgently asks that all Quakers and Meetings read, reflect on, and respond to Quakers discern genocide is occurring in Gaza and urge courageous action.
In a time of dangerously increasing famine and hopelessness, this an opportunity to engage our testimonies of truth, equality and peace and discern our commitment to Quaker witness and oue relevance for these times.
American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) offers tools for your discernment, including background resources and compelling queries like:
- How might friends "advocate relentlessly" for the end of suffering, centering Palestinian lived experiences?
- What stands in our way from becoming advocates?
-
How will Friends show the world that defending the rights, safety, and dignity of Palestinians does not inherently interfere with a commitment among Friends to demonstrate love and compassion for Jewish people?
- What role can Quakers play in ensuring the right to protest and free speech is protected in our communities?
PIPJ encourage Meetings to take the time needed to listen to fears about antisemitism and free speech as well as on the “militarism, racism and greed” Martin Luther King called us to resist. PIPJ meets monthly on second Wednedays at 7 pm to share what our Meetings and communities are learning, doing and needing—and to support each other in these difficult days.
