The Arc Montgomery County successfully hosted the Multicultural Senior Services Fair - an event that truly brought our mission to life.

The fair created a welcoming space for older adults, families, and service providers from across our diverse community to connect, share resources, and build relationships.

Our team truly stepped up to ensure the community had this important opportunity. We received overwhelmingly positive feedback from both families and vendors, reinforcing the importance of culturally responsive and inclusive community events like this one. Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success!

The Arc Montgomery County recently attended the Beautiful Lives Project’s Field of Dreams event at the University of Maryland, where participants had the opportunity to run football drills with members of the University of Maryland football team. Everyone had a great time building friendships, staying active, and enjoying a fun day on the field.

“I adore to perform on stage… When someone puts me on the spot – I feel like a fish in water.”

Vadim is a lover of all things theatre. “Lots of people like movies and I like theatre better than a movie,” he laughs.

In May, he starred in ArtStream’s musical Game Night at BlackRock Center for the Arts in Germantown. “What I love best is when I’m performing not by myself, but with a partner… We all stick together and the play becomes a success.”

Vadim has been a part of many successful performances with ArtStream. Founded in 2005, its mission is to bring performing arts opportunities to people with IDD. Vadim’s been with ArtStream since the beginning. In fact, a quick Google search reveals a video of Vadim singing The Star-Spangled Banner with other ArtStream-ers at a Baltimore Orioles game back in 2018! Vadim says stage fright has never really been an issue when it comes to his performing. “For a little while I become like a famous person… I wanna be famous.”

Vadim is certainly famous at ArtStream, and at The Arc Montgomery County where he is supported in our Personal Support Services program.

And, a big THANK YOU the Best Buddies club at St. John’s College High School as teens volunteered, taking part in field days along with the teens! We appreciate the volunteers for their commitment to helping us create a true community of belonging and inclusion for our students.

Advocates, family members, and volunteer leaders from The Arc, and partners from other nonprofits and government agencies joined together at The Arc Maryland 2026 Statewide Convention & Awards Banquet at Turf Valley Resort in Ellicott City. It was a time for learning, networking and celebrating wins.

Congratulations to Elizabeth Edwards from KFICCC who won the School Inclusion Award and R3 LLC, which is the Chapter Volunteer of the Year for The Arc Montgomery County. 🏆

Mark your calendar for June 23 as Maryland will be holding its primary elections! These elections will cover who from each political party will be represented in the November elections at the local, state and federal levels. That means that you can only vote for candidates from the party you are registered with.

Fidget toys, alternative seating and other materials available at the Agricultural History Farm Park in Derwood, MD. Sensory Saturdays is a Montgomery Parks' inclusive experience for visitors with and without sensory sensitivities.

Each month, the program features a different theme with multiple sensory stations to interact with people of all abilities.

The next Sensory Saturday is June 6 at 10 am and the cost is $5.

Returning riders and new ones are welcome to join Montgomery Parks' beginner-friendly Adaptive Mountain Biking Roots-to-Rocks Group Ride.

Riders will be accompanied by support riders to ensure a positive experience on rides averaging 5 miles. Participants can sign up to ride a Lasher Recumbent Handcycle or TerraTrike Recumbent Foot-Pedal Trike. The cost is free and registration is required.
