Here's what you can do to prevent that from happening again:
Have a transit plan ready. When the roads are slippery, why not just park your car near your home at a Park and Ride lot and let someone else do the driving the rest of the way! Map out your route using Metro's

Circulator App to help you get to work once you're downtown!
Try a flexible work schedule. Try to hit the road later and leave later to give crews time to treat and plow the streets, and so you can avoid the rush.
Telework. Telework is easy and secure, and, best of all, you don't have to shovel your driveway! A
telework plan cannot be put into place on a snow day, however, so you will need to plan ahead with your "teleworkable" employees.
