Winter Is Upon Us!
This week's wintery weather has driven home the importance of having a "plan b" commute. Did Mother Nature shut down your business?
Here's what you can do to prevent that from happening again:
Have a transit plan ready. When the roads are slippery, why not just park your car near your home at a Park and Ride lot and let someone else do the driving the rest of the way! Map out your route using Metro's Trip Planner, and download the Bethesda Urban Partnership's new Circulator App to help you get to work once you're downtown!
Try a flexible work schedule. Try to hit the road later and leave later to give crews time to treat and plow the streets, and so you can avoid the rush.
Telework. Telework is easy and secure, and, best of all, you don't have to shovel your driveway! A telework plan cannot be put into place on a snow day, however, so you will need to plan ahead with your "teleworkable" employees. Click here for more information about teleworking!
Meet Our Newest Advisory Committee Member: Jedd Skibo
Jedd Skibo joined the Bethesda Transportation Solutions (BTS) Advisory Committee in September 2014 and will be representing residents like him, who live in Downtown Bethesda.
Skibo incorporates the walking and biking trails in and around Bethesda into his daily life by using them to run errands. He says he and his wife are always “out and about” biking to Georgetown or to Whole Foods on the Capital Crescent Trail using bikes from Capital Bikeshare.
“While on the Advisory Committee, I would like to work to make Downtown Bethesda safer for cyclists and pedestrians,” says Skibo.
Do you know someone who would be interested in serving on our Committee? BTS is looking for a member to represent employers located in Downtown Bethesda with 50 or fewer employees! Contact Kristen Blackmon for more details.

Bike to Work Day Wants You!
There may be snow on the ground but we are thinking about Bike to Work Day! Downtown Bethesda has one of the largest Pit Stops in Maryland, but we cannot do it without the help of our event partners. This year's event will be held on Friday, May 15 from 6:30am - 8:30am at the corner of Woodmont & Bethesda Ave. Contact Jennifer Zucker today at (301) 656-0868 ext. 118 if you'd like more information.
Where's my Metrobus?
That question may soon be obsolete, as the Washington Area Transit Authority (WMATA) tests new real-time bus arrival signs at four stops around the region, including Southbound  Viers Mill Road at Randolph Road in Montgomery County. Click here for more information.
