The School of Business is proud to be the only higher education institution in Oregon with government-focused accounting classes. We caught up with two accounting programs alumni who are working in the local government to see how PSU set them up for career success and what they are up to now.

Interview with Accounting Alumna Christa Wolfe

Christa Wolfe graduated in 2002 and 2003 with dual BAs in Accounting and General Management. This past year, Wolfe was appointed as the director of finance and chief financial officer with Clackamas County
"Every day, every single decision that I make or someone on my team makes, it has an impact on my community and I really value that," Wolfe said.
Wolfe shares her journey since graduating from PSU and her advice for current students who are considering a career in government.
Tracey Gates Interview

Interview with Accounting Alumna Tracey Gates

Tracey Gates, a principal auditor with the Secretary of State Audits Division, graduated in 2011 with a BA in accounting.
"I don’t think there’s any other industry where you can feel like the work you do is part of something that is important and impacts the public at large," Gates said.

Gates recounts her experience of being an older student at PSU, and how taking a diverse range of classes set her up for success in a field that benefits from a multifaceted background.

ALUMNI ON THE RISE

John Chang, '88

Clackamas Community College has hired Chang as the new executive director of the college's foundation. Chang previously worked as the executive director of Young Entrepreneurs Business Week, a statewide organization providing business programs and pre-college experiences for students across 36 Oregon counties and 17 states.

ACCOUNTING ADVISORY BOARD SPOTLIGHT

Trina Headley

Headley was promoted to Shareholder at Perkins & Co. Accounting. A PSU alumna, her primary emphasis includes business advisory services, tax planning and compliance work for closely-held businesses with expertise in partnerships and limited liability companies.

We are looking for gently used slacks, khakis, pantsuits, suits, skirts, dresses, button-ups, blouses, shoes, belts, jewelry, book bags and portfolios.
