This is our time to shine and celebrate all the benefits of international education - a celebration of the diversity of peoples, ideas and experiences that are Miami. In this spirit of Love and Honor, a range of activities and events have been planned to celebrate International Education Week at Miami University.

Monday | November 11, 2019

Student Leadership Recruitment Fair
Armstrong Student Center, Pavilion  | 7:00 - 9:00 pm 
Find your next #MiamiOH leadership experience! Participate in interactive activities while learning about upcoming leadership and employment opportunities and enjoying light refreshments.
Stop by our iPOL table, talk to iPOLs about their experiences and learn more about becoming an International Peer Orientation Leader!

Searching and Applying for Internships and CPT
Armstrong Student Center, Room 1086  | 6:00 - 7:00 pm 
Join an educational session to learn strategies for finding and securing internships that contribute to your academic objectives, as well as applying for Curricular Practical Training (CPT) work authorization.

Thursday | November 14, 2019

MacMillan Hall, Room 212  | 5:30 pm
Latin American Studies faculty will tell stories of resistance through song or music.  Stories will be drawn from the news, experiences in the field, lived experience, and from historical heroes in the Americas.  
Oxford Community Arts Center  | 7:00 - 9:30 pm
Utpola Borah, a vocalist from Assam, India and her group of international musicians will perform music from India and Bangladesh, covering traditional and classical pieces. A reception with Indian food will follow the performance. 

Friday | November 15, 2019

Shideler Hall, Room 152 | 3:00 - 5:00pm
During this fun-filled showcase, students will tell their study abroad stories, winners from the IEW Contest will be announced, prizes will be awarded, and student groups will perform. 
Shriver Center, Dolibois Room | 4:30 - 8 pm
International Education Week is kicking off with a global dance party! Come dance to hits from all around the world. Put in a request and share your favorite dance music. Or, sign up as a group to show off your dance moves.

Saturday | November 16, 2019

McGuffey Hall, 322 | 6:00 - 9:00 pm
Not only will it be a showcase of food from around the continent, but also a chance to immerse yourself in what it means to be African. This year's theme is: What It Means to be African Now. Come and learn from your fellow students about their experiences and growth as an African.

Review Miami's Transfer Credit Policies
If you are thinking about taking classes abroad during the winter term, please be sure to review Miami’s transfer credit policies. Note that transcripts from Chinese institutions must be submitted with a verification report from the China Higher Education Student Information and Career Center (CHESICC). The report must be mailed directly to the Office of the University Registrar by CHESICC. Summer and winter courses and programs offered at officially recognized institutions in China will not be reviewed or pre-approved for transfer credit in advance. They are subject to an additional review and will only be considered for transfer credit if certain requirements are fully met. Review these requirements and additional information about transferring credit on the One Stop website.

Two Spring 2020 Courses to Consider
IDS 154, Introduction to Study Abroad is designed for students who have committed to or are considering studying abroad. As an international student, your ability to effectively engage with people from other cultures will be useful whether or not you choose to leave the Oxford campus to further your studies.

IDS 253, Voices of DiscoveryIntergroup Dialogue introduces you to the practice of sustained, facilitated discussions with your peers around identity topics such as international/domestic, religion, gender, ability and race/ethnicity. Strong communication skills, especially among diverse groups, is something employers are looking for in candidates for jobs and internships. The course also counts toward the Intercultural Perspectives requirement for the Global Miami Plan. 
Engage with your peers through seminar style, discussion-based sessions in these courses offered through the Center for American & World Cultures
