Milton Takes the Lead on GA-9 Widening Project |
|
|
Milton is stepping up to reshape its future. During his State of the City address, Milton Mayor Peyton Jamison announced that the city will take over planning and designing the long-delayed GA-9 widening project. This shift comes after the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) halted the project last year.
By taking control, Milton aims to transform GA-9 into a safer, more community-focused roadway. Planned changes include reducing the speed limit, preserving landscaping and trees and incorporating sidewalks and trails. The project is a crucial step in revitalizing the Deerfield area to position it as Milton’s economic hub.
True North 400 supports Milton’s leadership in shaping its infrastructure and looks forward to seeing the positive impact of this project on connectivity and economic development in North Fulton.

Is Alpharetta Getting New Pickleball Courts? |
The Cooler, Alpharetta’s longtime ice rink and a staple for figure skaters and hockey players in North Fulton, may soon transform into a pickleball facility. Owner John Bardis has submitted plans to the City of Alpharetta to convert the two ice arenas into 18 indoor pickleball courts, a move that has sparked strong reactions from the local skating and hockey communities.
For 27 years, The Cooler has been a second home to skaters, hockey players and their families, many of whom are now rallying to keep it an ice rink. A community-driven petition has emerged, urging more discussion before changes take place. While there is no confirmed timeline for the transition, ice time bookings will end in March. Bardis has stated his intention to meet with families to discuss the plans and hear their concerns.
