Parents, relatives and friends should consider the Oklahoma 529, a state-sponsored, tax-advantaged college savings plan to help families prepare for the cost of higher education.
|
|
|
The Oklahoma 529 can be used to cover the following educational expenses:
|
- Tuition at colleges, universities, career technology centers, graduate and professional schools, and some study abroad programs
- Certain types of room and board
- Fees, books and supplies
- Computers, printers, software
- Certain expenses for students with special needs
- K-12 tuition
- And more

Oklahoma’s Promise is our state’s premier scholarship program that allows students who meet certain income, academic and conduct requirements to earn a college or technology center tuition scholarship.

Students can enroll in the program in the 8th, 9th, 10th or 11th grade. An online application in English and Spanish makes applying fast, convenient and secure. The deadline to apply is June 30 of your junior year of high school.
Oklahoma's Promise pays tuition at public colleges and universities, partial tuition at approved private higher education institutions and partial tuition at approved programs offered at career technology centers.
Some basic eligibility requirements for the program include:

- Must be an Oklahoma resident.
- Take 15 units of required college prep high school courses and achieve at least a 2.50 cumulative GPA in those courses.
- Achieve at least a 2.50 cumulative GPA for all courses in grades 9-12.
- Must enroll in the 8th, 9th, 10th or 11th grade.
- Must be a student whose parents' federal adjusted gross income does not exceed:
- $60,000 with 1 or 2 dependent children OR
- $70,000 with 3 or 4 dependent children OR
- $80,000 with 5 or more dependent children
