What You Need to Know
The excitement is building with just over a week until the World Athletics Championships Oregon22 officially kicks off. Over the weekend WCH Oregon22 banners went up across campus and in a matter of days athletes, teams, and visitors will begin to arrive.
Building Access
Due to fewer people being on campus and increased visitors for WCH Oregon22, many UO buildings may have limited or restricted access during July. Check with the building manager or your supervisor, instructor, or program manager if you have questions about building access.
Buildings within the Science Complex including the Knight Campus will be restricted from July 14-25. Faculty and staff can use ID cards to access the buildings. UO students with classes within these buildings will be provided ID card access to enter the buildings for their classes. Anyone with a UO ID card can enter the Price Science Commons. Staff without appropriate ID card access should contact their department access coordinator. These buildings include: Columbia, Knight Campus, Klamath, Lawrence, Pacific, Willamette, Onyx, Streisinger, LISB, Deschutes, and Huestis.
Traffic and Pedestrian Update
- Updated dates: Some campus road impact dates have changed and restrictions will now begin July 10. Currently all road impacts are scheduled to end by July 31. The traffic map below shows current dates. For an up-to-date, full list of impacted roads and dates visit WCH Oregon22's Know Before You Go webpage.
- Vehicle Access Passes: Transportation Services received hard copies of Vehicle Access Passes (VAPs) for restricted streets from the Oregon22 team. If pre-registered for a VAP, you and/or your department should receive it by the end of this week.
Parking Reminders
- Alternatives: Due to traffic and parking impacts UO employees and students are encouraged not to park on campus, if possible, during WCH Oregon22. The Transportation Services website provides information about transportation alternatives including PeaceHealth bikes, bike parking, and LTD bus passes. We do not recommend having someone drop you off on the restricted roads inside campus boundaries. Carpooling to campus with colleagues is highly encouraged when possible.
- 13th Avenue Garage: To access the 13th Avenue Garage July 10-13, please enter and exit via the intersection of Franklin Boulevard and East 13th Avenue (to the east of the garage). Access to the garage via Agate Street will not be available during this time.
Dining
Erb Memorial Union dining venues will remain open to the public. Some other venues on campus will be part of the athlete village and not open to the campus/public.
July Operations
Some UO departments may have mostly remote operations during July, such as the Office of Human Resources, the Office of Investigations and Civil Rights Compliance, and Business Affairs, which includes payroll, accounts payable, travel, student billing, and cashiers. You are encouraged to schedule appointments or make prior contact before heading to an office on campus to confirm in-person availability and building access.
Safe and Welcoming
We are asking visitors and the community to assist us in providing a safe and welcoming environment for everyone. Like other large events, there will be safety restrictions in place. if you See Something, Say Something.
