Digging in

The National Science Foundation recently awarded a $246,665 grant to Associate Professor of Anthropology Miriam Belmaker to further enhance TU's Surface Metrology and Imaging Lab by funding the purchase of a 3D micro laser scanner and software for digital analysis. The addition will help to make Tulsa a national center for material sciences research, including investigations of climate change and human evolution.

TU welcomed members of the Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma to campus this fall for cyber workshops that give girls and young women the opportunity to earn badges and explore career options. Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma has partnered with TU on cyber workshops since 2016 and was the first in the nation to offer cybersecurity badges to participants who successfully complete the program.

Global Expansion: Vietnam

This fall, TU has signed a global partnership agreement with Hanoi University to expand opportunities for TU students to experience Vietnam through short-term and semester-long programs. The memorandum of understanding also allows the universities to explore international joint degree programs in business and technology-related areas.

Global Expansion: Finland

TU recently formed a new partnership with the University of Vaasa in Finland that will allow students and faculty to study, teach and conduct research in Vaasa. The first group of students are expected to participate in the exchange program as early as fall 2023, and the research collaboration among faculty has already started. TU has more than 30 active global partnerships and affiliations.
