American Legion Scholarships » As part of the NSDA’s ongoing partnership with The American Legion, the top three finishers from the Legion’s National Oratorical Contest may earn the right to compete in Original Oratory or United States Extemporaneous Speaking at the National Speech & Debate Tournament! The first-place finisher is awarded an $18,000 scholarship, second-place $16,000, and third-place $14,000. The scholarships may be used at any college or university in the United States. Policy Debate Topic Selection » Chapter advisors and member students can vote online to help select the 2017-2018 Policy Debate resolution. Fundraising Opportunity » Erica Dasher and Sami Kriegstein (Harvard National Champs 2004, Nat Finalists 2003-2004) made a documentary about speech and debate, and it’s in theaters right now.
