Streamline How Students Sign Up for Tournaments

The Tabroom Signup System allows you to do away with that sheet of paper in the corner of your classroom where competitors illegibly sign up for tournaments. With this feature, you simply confirm the data the student has entered. Plus, it notifies debate/duo partners and parents when the student signs up! Read more »

Fall Board Meeting Agenda

The NSDA Board of Directors will hold its fall meeting September 21-23. In an effort to facilitate membership engagement and increase transparency, the Board and its leadership has decided to publish the agendas for each of the four meetings held during the year. It is extremely important to the Board that NSDA member coaches are aware of both the governance and competition/rule issues that will be addressed. Additionally, they want to facilitate Board level access for members to ask questions and offer comments regarding theses agenda items and/or other issues throughout the year. The fall agenda is available to read. Please feel free to email any comments or questions you may have concerning specific agenda items to board@speechanddebate.org. These will be compiled and presented to the Board for consideration. Minutes from the fall meeting will be published in the November/December issue of Rostrum

Help Us Include New Audiences

One of our organizational goals is to expand access to speech and debate to new audiences. To do so, we must first get a snapshot of our membership. Please take a moment to help us in this effort by adding or updating the demographic information on your account page. Simply log in to your account and click “Edit” next to “Personal Info.” It only takes a minute and goes a long way in helping us drive inclusive participation!

Transferring Coaches and Students

If you are a high school coach and students on your team were members in middle school, or if there is a coach at your program who was a student member, please read on below. These steps allow those individuals to keep a percentage of the points they earned in their former role!
A graduated student who is now a coach » From your "School Roster" page, click "Transfer Coach" and then add the information about the high school student record (either their first and last name and state [as a high school student] or their high school student merit number) and click "Search," it will find the student's record and when you click "Transfer" next to the correct student record, it will ask you to "Confirm" and doing so will transfer the person to your roster as a new coach with 1/10th of their high school points and the record will be marked paid.
A graduated middle school student who is now at a high school » From your "School Roster" page, click "Transfer student" and then add the information about the student's middle school record (either their full name and state or their middle school student merit number) and click "Search," it will find the midde school student's record and when you click "Transfer" next to the correct student record, it will ask you to "Confirm" and doing so will transfer the person to your roster with 1/10th of their middle school points, with a maximum of 50 (500 middle school) points.
