DISTRICT CHAIR WEBINAR
The District Chair Role: Planning for a Successful Year » In addition to ensuring a successful district tournament series, district chairs represent your district's needs and provide an essential tie between national and local efforts. Join this webinar to learn more about the role of chair and how we can support you in different ways throughout the school year. This session is open to district chairs of any experience level. It is mandatory for new chairs, but will include useful information for those who have served before. As always, veteran chairs have much to contribute and are welcome to join in the conversation!

Sign up for a time slot during next week's webinar offerings by clicking here. New chairs who are unable to attend should contact Amy Seidelman at amy.seidelman@speechanddebate.org.
WHAT'S HAPPENING
Student Leadership Committee » Encourage students in your district to apply for the 2015-2016 Student Leadership Committee! The SLC is designed to represent the needs of the student body by connecting, supporting, and inspiring student leaders to advocate on behalf of all members. For additional information, or to access the online application form, visit www.speechanddebate.org/slc. The deadline to apply is September 23.
New Pilot Events » At the Spring Board of Directors Meeting, the Board unanimously voted to run a one-year pilot of Informative Speaking (INF) and Program Oral Interpretation (POI). In the pilot year 2015-2016, each member school may enter two students in each of the two events, and they will NOT count toward the school’s entry quota. Each district will receive two qualifiers to the 2016 National Speech & Debate Tournament. Our updated High School Competition Events Guide includes an introduction to both events.
