The ABCs of belonging
For over 50 years, TU's Association of Black Collegians (ABC) has been a vibrant hub for developing community, sharing ideas and engaging with social and political issues. ABC's co-founder, Gerald L. Davis (BA '72), recounts how the group was forged in the context of a predominantly white campus during the civil rights era and the pride he takes in his daughter’s current involvement.

Meet the chancellor
TU Law alumna Allison Garrett (JD ‘87) recently added another feather to her professional cap by becoming the first female chancellor of the Oklahoma state system of higher education. Get to know Garrett, her advocacy plans and how her legal education taught her the importance of “knowing what questions to ask, doggedly pursuing answers, treating people with respect and thinking about all of the ‘what ifs.’”

Salamanders in love
On the home stretch of her doctorate in biological science, Madison Herrboldt was elated to receive the Zuckerkandl Prize for her paper in the Journal of Molecular Evolution on gene diversification and courtship glands in salamanders. “As an emerging scientist, you can easily doubt yourself, your capabilities and whether your research is of interest, but this award has really boosted my confidence as both a scholar and a writer.”

This is Washington calling
The White House and Department of Justice recently convened 99 law schools that responded to the U.S. Attorney General’s Call to Action to the Legal Profession to address the housing and eviction crisis. TU's College of Law is among those that immediately committed to preventing evictions. “We are proud of the work performed by our students in serving the needs of marginalized populations at risk of eviction,” said TU Law Dean Oren Griffin.
