Folsom Lake Surf Newsletter | September 2021

Message from Fritz

As we send our fifty teams out each weekend for competitions, I am reminded of what an amazing opportunity this poses for our players to represent themselves, their families and communities, and our Club.  Let’s continue to demonstrate the power of these lessons for our children through continued positive behavior on the sidelines and support for our teams no matter the outcome of any match. We have an amazing community, so let’s always put our best foot forward.

On this note, I would like to share that NorCal circulated a letter asking all clubs to remind their members to be responsible while representing their teams on the sidelines at games and practices. Additionally, there is a significant referee shortage and they have also asked us to avoid verbally abusing referees. We simply can’t afford to lose the refs we do have. Thank you!

CLUB UPDATES

Futsal

We have over 60 players signed up for our inaugural training session being held at the Folsom Sports Complex on Thursdays and Sundays. Rosters for the upcoming United Futsal’s Championship Series regional event in Las Vegas will be formed soon. We hope to accommodate players whose Club team practices conflict with our training sessions.

Referee Courses

To address the current referee shortage clubs across the region, clubs are rushing to offer classes to anyone 13yrs old and older. Here is the link to the document on how to signup to become a referee (and make $$$), which will culminate in an in-person session on Thursday, October 14th.

We continue to focus on providing our players with as many developmental opportunities as possible. Thanks again for you support. Go Surf!

Trophy Tuesday

Support Tyler Andrews
For those of you not following us on social media on Tuesday's we post our teams success in the previous weeks tournaments. It's really amazing the success some of our teams are having out there. This past weekend we had 7 teams in the top 3 of their tournaments, and of those 3 were the champions, and that was just last weekend. Just really impressive play and coaching out there. Of course, we know not all of our teams are winning or placing in tournaments, and that's OK. This is comp soccer and the other teams want to win too, it's what makes it such a great experience. Regardless if your team is winning or not, remember it's those players that are still grinding and getting better every day who finish at the top in the older years of youth soccer and even at the college level.
If you aren't following us on social media we highly recommend that you do. We are always posting content and the latest information about our teams and the club in general there first.
