Professor Emerita of Art History Linda Williams has uncovered more than two dozen 16th century murals in Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula—murals depicting Christian iconography that were painted not by Europeans, but by Indigenous Maya artists. Now, Williams and her collaborators are using pigment analysis and high-tech photography to document and analyze these works of art.

The Southern Arizona Research, Science, and Engineering Foundation (SARSEF) profiled Professor of Biology and William L. McCormick Professor of Natural Sciences Stacey Weiss on their website. Weiss works as a remote mentor for SARSEF’s STAR Lab (Students Taking Advantage of Research) program, where she helps high school students design and run their own microbiology experiments. “My emphasis is not just on imparting knowledge but on nurturing the potential within each student,” Weiss says.

First-year Alex Rhodes ’27 became the first Puget Sound men's sprinter to earn Division-III All-America status by placing second in the 400-meter race at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship on Mar. 9. Rhodes is one of only six Logger All-Americans in NCAA indoor events.

Alumna Kristin Hannah JD’86 recently published her new book, The Women, a historical drama inspired by the real-life women who served in the Armed Forces, mostly as nurses, during the Vietnam War. In February, she held a reading at Benaroya Hall in Seattle.

Professor of Environmental Policy & Decision Making Dan Sherman and students in his ENVR 315: Energy Resources class spent their spring break exploring energy production across Washington state. Over six days, they visited hydro, geothermal, solar, wind, coal, gas, and nuclear power generating sites, learning about the scientific, political, and environmental context of the U.S. transition to alternative energy sources.
