The BYM Annual Session Program Committee is hard at work this winter preparing for Annual Session 2025! BYM Friends will gather from July 29 - August 3 at Hood College in Frederick, MD. Together for one week we will conduct our business, learn from one another, enjoy fun and fellowship and practice building community in the manner of Friends. Workshop proposals are now open - and we encourage BYM Committees, Monthly Meetings, individual Friends, and Quaker organizations to share their gifts and talents. The 2025 Annual Session theme is Guided by Spirit: Living Our Faith in a Challenging World. Stay tuned for more details about Annual Session 2025 coming in April!

| Don't Forget! Called Interim Meeting TOMORROW Jan 25
|
Our Yearly Meeting will gather for a Called Interim Meeting on Saturday, January 25th at 11:00am online via Zoom to review and consider a revised BYM budget for 2025. After the close of the 2024 camping season and review of the Q1-Q3 financials, it became clear that our projections for camper fees in 2025 were incorrect. Staff and Committees have been hard at work revising the 2025 budget to be more accurate.

Faith in Action: A Quaker on the US Border
|
As Mr. Rogers famously reminded children and adults of all ages, in difficult times it can ground us to "look for the helpers." During these difficult times in our country, the BYM Weekly Announcements will be lifting up Quakers who put their faith in action as helpers and activists. Perhaps these stories might inspire First Day School lessons or discussion in your faithfulness group. This week, we bring you the story of Sam Shultz, a Quaker who brings much needed humanitarian aid to migrants on the California border. As Sam says, “The Quakers’ real name is Society of Friends, and we treat everyone we deal with as if they are our friend. My friends are in trouble. That’s it.”

| Quaker Leadership Center & Pendle Hill: Publishers of the Truth
|
Pendle Hill and the Quaker Leadership Center of Earlham School of Religion invite you to a weekend conference, May 2-5 at the Pendle Hill Campus. The conference will explore how Friends witness and publish the truth with integrity in an age of fractured political realities, disinformation, and artificial intelligence. Friends will share worship, meals, music, laughter, and learning through plenary sessions and workshops. Approaching Truth through the lens of continuing revelation, the sessions and workshops will center the voices of emerging leaders in the Quaker world, held by elders in a spirit of care.

Through the faithful generosity of our wonderful community, BYM met our fundraising goal for 2024! We are so grateful for every single one of you who contributed gifts of finances or time last year. Friends in 50 worshiping communities gathered together in 2024 to worship, play, work, and discern the leadings of Spirit. We had retreats, business meetings, social justice actions, summer camp, spiritual formation and more. Your engagement is what makes BYM's programs and services possible—Thank you!
