Update on BYM Immigration Enforcement Lawsuit, Mar 3 |
Join the BYM General Secretary and our lawyers from Democracy Forward on Tuesday, March 3rd at 5pm for an update on our lawsuit Friends et al v. U.S. Department of Homeland Security et al. In January 2025, BYM - along with our Friends in Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, New England Yearly Meeting, and two non-Quaker religious bodies - sued the Department of Homeland Security to protect our freedom to worship without fear of government intrusion by armed immigration enforcement officers. All BYM Meetings are included in the preliminary injunction granted by the Court. Come hear an update and next steps in our case, and get your questions answered. Due to the sensitive nature of this update, advance registration with Monthly Meeting affiliation is required and will be confirmed.

| Sue Thomas Turner Quaker Education Grants Close Mar 1 |
The Sue Thomas Turner Quaker Education Fund was established in Baltimore Yearly Meeting in 1996 in recognition of Sue Thomas Turner's long support of Quaker education and Quaker values in public education. Its purpose is to: support the understanding and use of Quaker faith and practice in school communities and support the development of lives lived in the Spirit of Friends by members of school communities. Recently funded projects can be found at the link below. Applications due March 1.

Witness from Palestine, Feb 23
|
Quakers for Peace in Palestine & Israel invite you to a Zoom event on Feb 23 at 7:30pm. Quakers from New York Yearly Meeting will bring their learning and perspective from their recent trip to Ramallah, Bethlehem, and Jerusalem. Jens and Spee, the event speakers, met in the early 1980s while working for Ramallah Friends School and American Friends Service Committee in Palestine. They subsequently spent two years in the Gaza Strip working with Save the Children.

| Working Group Spotlight: Jesus' Friends |
The BYM Advancement & Outreach Committee sponsors Jesus' Friends, a monthly, online worship sharing for BYM Friends. On the third Sunday of each month, Jesus' Friends offers worship sharing on a selected scripture and the life and message of Jesus. Email jesusfriends@bym-rsf.org to obtain the Zoom link and the reading for March 15. All are welcome!

The Nuts & Bolts of Traveling Ministry, March 5
|
21st century traveling ministers belong to the same tradition that Friends practiced in the 1600s, but the world has changed. How can Quaker ministers prepare for the challenges of traveling in the ministry? This one-hour workshop from Public Friend and Emily Provance will touch on many elements of traveling ministry with a focus on the practical aspects such as finances, logistics, and self-care. By the end of this workshop, you will feel prepared to engage with meetings on these topics and others.

| Roanoke Panel Discussion on Racism, Feb 21 |
Join Friends from Roanoke Meeting at a special Plowshare Peace & Justice Center forum on racism in our society. The event will take place tomorrow, Sat, Feb 21 at 2:00pm at Williams Memorial Baptist Church in Roanoke. Plowshare also continues its planning for the Roanoke Teen Peace Jam taking place in May. Join us!
